Gaming and Hour of Code @GVR

“I can’t find my skin!”

“Are you going to kill me because I have butter?”

“Heaven just got blown up by a creeper.”

“I’m stuck in a freaking hole!”

Those were just some of the things we heard during Green Valley Ranch Branch’s first ever BEFORE HOURS Computer Gaming Party held at 11 AM on Sunday, December 15. The morning belonged to the 25 teens and tweens who had the whole library—and all 50 computers—to themselves!  Kids played computer games like Minecraft, Roblox and more.  They discussed ways to make new worlds, helped each other out (and destroyed each other, of course) and had a blast.  Best of all, they could be as loud as they wanted!

Some students participated in the Hour of Code and learned how to program angry birds and zombies.

After the two hour program was over, most of the students who participated got together to create their own gaming club. They are ready to help the library plan for the next super-successful Computer Gaming Party!
