Public Library Catalog Our online catalog allows you to search for materials at all 23 Denver Public Library branches. You can access it by clicking on the Catalogs link in the upper right corner of our homepage. Then click on Search the Denver Public Library Catalog. |

| · Choose a search
method (author, title, keyword, etc.). These are in the first drop-down
box. · If you want, limit your search by media type (videos, dvds, e-books, etc.). These choices are in the second drop-down box. · Type in your search words, then click the search button. · A list of results will be returned to you. When you find a title that’s interesting, click on it. · The bottom of the information page tells you where to find it – what branches it’s at and whether it’s available at those branches. · If there are no copies available at your branch, click the place hold(s) button. This will move it from a branch where it’s available to yours. If it’s not available anywhere, this will put you on the wait list for it. |

| Prospector Prospector is a Web site that allows you to search 16 different Colorado libraries, including DPL, all at once. If you know that Denver Public Library does not have what you're looking for, then Prospector is your next step. If you find an item in Prospector at a library other than DPL, you can request it and have it sent to your favorite Denver Public Library branch. This process takes 4 to 7 days. |

· Choose a Prospector search method. · Type in what you’re looking for and click the submit search button. · When you see an interesting item in your list of results, click on it. · Click on the link telling you how many Prospector libraries have this item. · If you see that Denver Public Library does not own this item, then you can request it. To do that, click on the REQUEST THIS ITEM link. · The next page will ask you with which institution you are affiliated. Choose Denver Public from the drop-down box, then click submit. · The next page asks you for your name, Denver Public Library card number, and at which branch location you'd like to pick up the item. After you enter all of this information, click the submit button and you're done! · We'll call you when the item arrives if we have your number on file. |

If you can't find what you're looking for in the Denver Public Library catalog, or Prospector, then WorldCat is your next and last step online. If you find an item in WorldCat that DPL does not own, you can have it sent to your favorite DPL branch. This process takes 2 to 3 weeks. OneFile OneFile is a database that collects articles from thousands of magazines and journals. It has full-text capabilities, which means you can read the whole article online. You must have a Denver Public Library card when accessing this site from outside the Library. |

Don't click on search just yet. · To expand your search, click inside the circle that allows you to search for words in entire article content. · Next, click the box that allows you to limit the current search to articles with full text. This allows you to read the articles online. · Click on the search button to get your results. · When you find an article title that looks interesting, simply click on it to read the article. |

| Ebsco Like Onefile, Ebsco is a place to find full-text articles. Ebsco maintains several databases, each with a different focus. The one you'll probably find most useful is Academic Search Premier. You must have a Denver Public Library card when accessing this site from outside the Library. |
