National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) happens every November. The challenge is to write an entire novel in just 30 days. That means you start writing in November and must finish your novel by midnight on November 30. The Young Writers Program (for people who are seventeen years old and younger) lets you set your own word-count goal that you want to reach by the end of the month. If you're a writer (or want to be one), this is a great way to kick start your creative process! And doing something just to see if you can is awesome, challenging and fun.

Sign up on the National Novel Writing Month website (it's free), fill in your profile, and set your word count goal. All that's left after that is to writing in the on-site writing space which includes writing tools, brainstorming ideas, and ways to personalize your novel.

Need motivation? Check out NaNoWriMo Pep Talks from well-known authors, Novelist Workbooks, the NaNo Prep 101 handbook, and the Getting Started Guide.

What if you don't finish? Your novel will remain on the NaNoWriMo site as long as you keep your account. Come back to continue writing and editing or create new projects.

Ready to get started? Check out the How it Works guide and start writing. Good luck!
