Comic cons are big business these days. These once fringe subculture events, have entered the mainstream and have become the premiere venues to celebrate pop culture. The growing popularity of comic cons can be partly attributed to the recent elevation of all things geeky in pop culture. But also by expanding comic cons to include not only comics, but also science fiction, fantasy, games, television, movies, animation, and all sorts of fandoms, comic cons have become celebrations of all things pop culture.

Whatever fandom you are into, we hope you'll join us on Saturday, December 3, at Mini Comic Con at the Sam Gary Branch Library from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a free event for fans of all ages.

Polish up your Wolverine claws, put on that cardboard TARDIS you made for Halloween, or show off that movie-quality Star Wars storm trooper outfit you spent a million dollars on. Whatever your fandom is we want to see it. Or, if you're not into cosplay, just come as you are. There will be lots of stuff going on.

All day events:

Several events will be going on all day at Mini Comic Con from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Artist Alley:
Come visit over 20 comic book creators who will have comics, art, and other fantastic things for sale at their tables. Are you an aspiring comic book artist? Bring your portfolio and get some professional feedback. Don't forget to visit the "Free Table" to pick up free comics, posters, and other stuff.

Button Making:
Make your own button from a large selection of pop culture images. Or pick up one of our limited edition, commemorative "Mini Comic Con" pins.

Face Painting:
Get some art on your face!

Green Screen Photos:
Take your photo on the moon, underwater, or scaling a tall building! Green screens allow you to create awesome special effects. Show off your awesome costume with an awesome background. Taking a green screen photo before 2:00 p.m. will automatically enter you in a raffle contest to win fabulous prizes.

Schedule of panel events:
Magic the Gathering Tournament (10:00 - 11:45 a.m.)
Do you already play Magic: The Gathering, or are interested in learning? Bring your deck and play for glory!

Cosplay 101 (12:00 - 12:25 p.m.)
Jennifer, a devoted cosplayer, will present a workshop on the ins and outs of costume play. She'll have several of her own homemade costumes on hand to show off and will be eager to answer any questions you have about this growing pop culture phenomenon.

Werewolf the Game (1:00 - 1:45 p.m.)
Join us for a fun, interactive group game. You are all villagers in a quiet, quaint medieval town. Unfortunately, this otherwise perfect little village has a problem. A big problem. A werewolf problem! But who is a werewolf and who is just a villager? It's up to you to route out the werewolves before the entire town is eaten!

Green Screen Photo Contest Winners Announced (2:00 - 2:45 p.m.)
We'll show the winning green screen photo entries and hand out prizes. We have 40+ prizes to hand out (everything from books to T shirts to collectibles), so don't be shy about entering.

Live Comic Reading (3:00 - 4:45 p.m.)
Comic book creators will thrill us with dramatic live readings accompanying projected artwork.

Whatever fandom you are into, come celebrate it with us at Mini Comic Con at the Sam Gary Branch Library on Saturday, December 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
