2017 Teen Video Challenge Finalists

The Collaborative Summer Library Program has announced the winners of the 2017 Teen Video Challenge!

The Teen Video Challenge encouraged teens to create short public service announcements that promote reading and library use over the summer to other teens. The 2017 theme was "Build a Better World" and fourteen states participated in the contest this year. The winning videos illustrate the diversity of our nation and of the teens that created them.

The summer of making has kicked off to a great start and the heat is on! Check out the Summer of Making for a chance to win a laptop, Amazon gift cards, a Sparkfun electronics kit, and most importantly, a pizza party. You have the chance to explore your creative genius by making something, anything really, and submitting it to the teen website for a shot at a prize. Pass by the ideaLAB and you’ll see the Summer of Making Meter. 

2015 National Novel Writing Month for Teens

It's almost time for 2015 National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short)! Are you a writer, or do you want to be? NaNoWriMo is a great way to try your hand at completing a big project, and getting in the habit of writing every day. It happens every November and the challenge is to write an entire novel in just 30 days. Can you do it?

There’s absolutely no denying that cons are a massive part of fan culture -- new ones are popping up here, there and everywhere. You name it, it has a con. There’s Anime Expo (Anime), PAX Prime (Video Games), Dragon Con (SF/Fantasy) and of course, Denver’s own home grown & exceedingly popular Comic Con.

Wild West Murder Mystery - Movie Making Workshop

Yeehaa! We're making a movie! Join ideaLAB and EPIC for a Wild West Murder Mystery, August 5 through 7 from 3-6 pm! We'll write, shoot, and edit a mini movie in 3 days. We'll screen the movie (world premiere!) at the ideaLAB Afterhours Party August 7 from 6-8 pm. Then we'll eat pizza and play games in the abandoned library. Free and open to all teens, ages 12-19.

National Novel Writing Month for Young Writers

It's almost time for National Novel Writing Month! National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, happens every November and is a challenge to write an entire novel in just 30 days. It's definitely a challenge, but also fun! And if you're a writer, or want to be, it's a great way to jump into your first big project.
